Bite-Lite Supports CT Food Bank’s 5K Race

Bite-Lite is teaming up with the Connecticut Food Bank to help sponsor the non-profit’s first annual Miles for Meals 5K race scheduled for this Sunday, June 5th, at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk.    Start time is 8:30 a.m.

As part of its sponsorship, Bite-Lite will offer a discount coupon to be included in the runners’ swag bags, allowing participants to choose from Bite-Lite’s natural mosquito repellent candles, chemical free horse fly trap, and indoor insect UV trap.

Registration is open online.  More than 100 runners have already pre-registered, and up to 500 runners are expected to sign up through the start of race time.   If you are among the first 400 runners to sign up, you will receive a commemorative tee shirt.   The entry fee is $32, and the proceeds will help the Food Bank stock its local food pantries, soup kitchens, and other programs that provide nutritious food to those in need.    Last year, the Connecticut Food Bank distributed enough food to prepare more than 18.5 million meals.

The Connecticut Food Bank Miles for Meals 5K will feature a flat course traveling through Calf Pasture Beach and the scenic Norwalk waterfront.   Packet pickup and race day registration will begin at 7:00 a.m.    A post-race party is scheduled at 9:00 a.m., and the awards ceremony at 10:00 a.m.    Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age group.
